Kris Allen is NOT a Mormon

Since my last blog post, I've gotten an unusually large number of hits from people googling "kris allen mormon". So, let's just be perfectly clear and get this out into the open.
Kris Allen is not a Mormon
I repeat
Kris Allen is not a Mormon
He is, however, a Christian and, as I understand, works with the music worship ministry in his church.

And, for anyone stumbling across this blog because you heard that Kris Allen is a Mormon - Yes, this is a gay blog - specifically a gay Mormon blog - welcome to the Mormon Queerosphere!

We, like other gay Christians, struggle with reconciling our sexuality with our religious beliefs and with non- acceptance by other members of our church. To get an idea of this struggle, watch this trailer for the Gay Christian Network's new documentary, "Through My Eyes" - a film, created for Christians by Christians which is an inside look at how the homosexuality debate in the church affects real people.

Haven't watched the vid yet, but I hadn't ever considered Allen Mormon, but it does beg the question:

Where is this years token Mormon kid?

:D

I loved it. Thanks for posting it. To bad we can't run this as an ad somewhere.

I can't wait to see the full version of "Through My Eyes." I was invited to see a screening in Austin, but it was on a Friday night, which conflicted with my work schedule :(

Btw, I am kinda lovin GCN right now. I have found a couple of good guys to hang out with while I'm in San Antonio. I think I would recommend GCN over a site like Affirmation. GCN seems to be more uplifting. They do have pretty strict forum rules regarding posting links and stuff.

Thanks for the alert on the trailer for "Through My Eyes." I would like to watch the whole film. Also, I went to the GCN website and then watched "Straight to Heaven." If anyone wants to watch a very amusing, entertaining parody musical which really captures the dilemma of being Christian and gay, I'd recommend you take 60 minutes and watch it. Maybe you already linked it earlier, but if so, maybe others missed seeing it like me.

I'm a strong LDS member and I am straight. But I'm fed up with members who are anti-gay pretending to be better people and/or closer to God. We aren't supposed to judge others - I learned that in church. I also learned that there were two plans for life. 1.) Force everyone to do what is right. 2) Free Agency. We chose the latter. God loves us all and we are supposed to love everyone. No, that doesn't mean "I love you, but you're going to Hell." It means, "I love you and you are free to make whatever decisions you choose to make for yourself".... Also, religion is a man-made thing. It can and never will be 100% God. Wouldn't that be too easy? So, as it is man-made, it can have flaws. I believe in the LDS church and will never leave it (unless forced). But I refuse to conform to beliefs that I know don't come from God just because my fellow members want me to believe that I'm less worthy if I don't agree.

I'm not a supporter of homosexuality and never will be, however, I really liked how this clip showed the emotional turmoil of being gay. and the choice isn't whether or not to they are gay, but how to accept it and still be a christian.
