Disturbing

I often get a kick out of some of the search terms people use to find my blog.  But, today someone found my blog using a search term that caused me to audibly gasp
people who murdered matthew shepard deserved a parade
I'm speechless - I don't know what to think or say.  It's one thing to believe homosexuality is wrong and a sin - it's an entirely different matter to rejoice in the murder of a homosexual.  That such people exist is disturbing - and that they found my blog frightens me.  Suddenly I feel on edge, like there is a disturbance in the force or something.  The relative safety of my closet doesn't feel so stuffy anymore.

And this wasn't an uneducated southern hick - this was someone at Boston University.

I am with you, Abe. That IS disturbing. I do not understand people and their mentalities sometimes. No one SHOULD ever have to go through what Mathew Shepherd experienced. Tragic. And, even more tragic that there are people out there who applaud such actions. I also do not understand it.

Love and respect, always.slp

My first thought was, "Maybe this person is doing research for a paper or project or something, trying to find someone to interview who has extreme views against homosexuals."

This was before I noticed that the visitor was from Boston University.

Not to be a Pollyanna or anything, but maybe it isn't so nefarious as you may fear.

Maybe this person is doing research

Perhaps, it was late and I was tired.

But, why would the person click on an obviously Mormon blog? (my blog shows up as "A Mormon Enigma: Matthew Shepherd"). Was there an underlying assumption that Mormon's rejoice in the murder of gays? That's also disturbing, for a whole different set of reasons.

I had the same thought Chedner had... And the same reaction when you revealed the location of that search...

Not to say that the concept itself still isn't disturbing...

You realize, though, that posting this phrase will direct even more matthew shepard-hating traffic to your blog?
